Does Costco Sell Hunter Douglas Shades?

Not in the US. Costco's custom program is Graber, run through local dealers, even though Hunter Douglas was once sold through Costco and still is in Canada. Here is the history, how the Costco model actually works, and what it cannot sell you.

No. In the United States, Costco does not sell Hunter Douglas window treatments, and it has not for roughly a decade. Costco's custom window treatment program in the US is Graber, and its do-it-yourself line is Bali. Both are brands of Springs Window Fashions. If the shades you want are Hunter Douglas, a Costco membership cannot get them for you in the US. Only an authorized Hunter Douglas dealer can.

That was not always true, and how it changed tells you a lot about what you are actually buying when you order window treatments through Costco today.

Did Costco used to sell Hunter Douglas?

Yes. Trade press reported Hunter Douglas as part of Costco's special-order program back in 2003. By the early 2010s the offer had become the one many members remember: a free in-home consultation, with a designer bringing Hunter Douglas samples to your home. That program was run by Custom Decorators, a division of Hunter Douglas itself.

Costco's own magazine says Graber has been serving Costco members since 2011, and that Costco "carefully selected Graber" when it set out to offer window coverings. The Hunter Douglas in-home program wound down in the US around 2013. A few years later, Custom Decorators' own company profile listed its retail partners as Macy's, Costco Canada, and Home Depot. Costco US was no longer on the list.

Why did it end? Honestly, nobody has ever said in public. Neither Costco nor Hunter Douglas has published a reason, and any article that gives you one is guessing. What is documented is the tension built into the arrangement. Hunter Douglas sells only through trained local dealers, and in 2010 it shut down its internet sales entirely to protect that dealer network. A warehouse referral program and a dealer-only brand were never a natural fit, and today the US program belongs to Graber.

What does Costco sell for window treatments today?

Two things, both from Springs Window Fashions.

The custom program is Graber. You sign up through Costco, and a local independent Graber dealer comes to your home to consult, measure, sell, and install. Costco itself does not measure, sell, or install the shades. Springs Window Fashions' own program literature describes the service as provided by a third party, and Graber's sales leadership describes the model the same way: they work with dealers. The benefit Costco adds on top is a Costco Shop Card worth 10% of qualifying Graber purchases under the current promotion, running through December 6, 2026. That percentage is a promotion rather than a fixture; it has been higher in other windows.

The second option is Bali, the do-it-yourself line. You measure your own windows, order a custom configuration online, and install it yourself.

Graber is a legitimate, full-line brand: blinds, shades, shutters, and drapery, with its own sheer shades, cellular shades, and motorization. This article is not a warning against Graber. It is a clarification, because the name on Costco's program changed, and the products changed with it.

Does buying through Costco save money?

There is no honest single answer, and it is worth being suspicious of anyone who gives you one, in either direction.

Here is what can be documented. A quote you receive through the Costco program is a local dealer's quote, reached through a referral program instead of directly. Window treatment pricing varies enormously from one seller to the next. When the nonprofit consumer group Checkbook sent undercover shoppers out for the same cellular shade specification, the quotes ranged from $437 to $1,494, and in that study the big-box stores, Costco among them, landed among the lower-priced outlets. Individual buyers have also reported Costco program quotes well above a competing quote. Both kinds of story exist, because the price is set by the dealer at your kitchen table, not by Costco.

So the useful move is a narrower one. If you are comparing a Costco Graber quote against anything else, compare the same product, the same options, and the same installation, and count the one documented Costco extra, the 10% Shop Card. And if the product you actually want is Hunter Douglas, the comparison ends before it starts, because the Costco US program cannot quote it at all.

What Costco cannot sell you: the Hunter Douglas products themselves

The real difference between the two programs is not a quality ranking. It is a product list.

Silhouette, Pirouette, Duette, Vignette, and Luminette are Hunter Douglas products, built on constructions no other brand sells. Silhouette hangs adjustable fabric vanes between sheer panels, in more than 150 fabric and color choices by Hunter Douglas's own count. Duette honeycomb shades offer the same depth of choice, 150 or more. Pirouette, with its contoured fabric vanes, has no equivalent in the Graber line at all. If one of those products is the right answer for your room, there is exactly one channel that sells it: a Hunter Douglas dealer.

Motorization follows the same split. Hunter Douglas PowerView Gen 3 works with Amazon Alexa, Apple Home through Matter, Google Home, and the major home control platforms, including Control4, Crestron, and Savant. Graber offers its own app-based motorization, and it is a reasonable system. But PowerView comes only on Hunter Douglas products, and Hunter Douglas products come only from dealers. If you are weighing the two sheer shades directly, our Silhouette vs. Pirouette comparison walks through how they differ.

The Canada exception

One honest exception. Costco Canada still runs a Hunter Douglas program today: a free consultation with an authorized Hunter Douglas dealer near you, a 10% Costco Shop Card under the current promotion, and payment made to Costco Wholesale Canada. It is run by the same Custom Decorators team that ran the old US program. So if you are reading this from Canada, the answer to the headline question is yes. In the United States, it is no.

Where to buy Hunter Douglas instead

Hunter Douglas sells only through its network of authorized dealers, in its own words because its products are sold through professionally trained specialists and are not sold online. That is deliberate. These are made-to-measure products, and the measuring, the fabric choice in your own light, and the installation are part of what you are paying for.

Luxe Window Works is one of those dealers. We bring the samples to your home, measure every window, and hold the same standard of service in every market we serve, North Idaho, Seattle's Eastside, and the Salt Lake area. A consultation is free, and it starts with the full Hunter Douglas line Costco cannot sell you, including an honest read on what Hunter Douglas window treatments cost before you commit to anything.

Common questions

Does Costco sell Hunter Douglas in the US?

No. Costco's US custom window treatment program is Graber, and its do-it-yourself line is Bali. Hunter Douglas is sold only through authorized dealers in the US.

Did Costco used to sell Hunter Douglas?

Yes. Hunter Douglas was part of Costco's special-order program in 2003, and an in-home consultation program run by Hunter Douglas's own Custom Decorators division served Costco members into the early 2010s. The US program ended around 2013, and neither company has ever published a reason.

What brand does Costco use for custom blinds?

Graber, made by Springs Window Fashions. A local independent Graber dealer handles the consultation, measuring, sale, and installation; Costco adds a Costco Shop Card, currently 10% of qualifying purchases. Bali, Graber's sister brand, is Costco's do-it-yourself option.

Can I get PowerView through Costco?

Not in the US. PowerView is Hunter Douglas's motorization system, and it is available only on Hunter Douglas products through Hunter Douglas dealers. Graber offers its own motorization through the Costco program, which is a different system.

Is Graber cheaper through Costco than through a dealer?

No published comparison settles that. Quotes in the Costco program are set by the local dealer who fulfills them, prices vary widely from seller to seller, and the one documented Costco extra is the 10% Shop Card. Compare the same product, options, and installation before deciding.

Where can I buy Hunter Douglas?

Through an authorized Hunter Douglas dealer. Hunter Douglas does not sell online or through warehouse clubs in the US. Luxe Window Works offers free in-home consultations in North Idaho, on Seattle's Eastside, and in the Salt Lake area.
